After Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate floor and it was announced that there will likely be an FBI investigation into the allegations against Kavanaugh, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue issued the following statement:
“Brett Kavanaugh is unfit to serve on the Supreme Court. Period. An FBI investigation may get us closer to truth and justice, but Brett Kavanaugh has been disqualified from the start. We already know that he is hostile to women, has repeatedly lied under oath, and been accused of sexual assault by three women. He walked into yesterday’s hearing a known liar and walked out not only a liar but exposed for being a partisan political figure, not an impartial judge. He is wholly unqualified for a seat on the Supreme Court, or really any court in this country.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
