Following reports that the FBI has ended their limited investigation into sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh after less than a week, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue issued the following statement:
“This sham FBI investigation was rigged from the beginning, just like every single step of the GOP’s shameless process to confirm Kavanaugh by any means necessary. With it’s severe limitations and rushed timeline, it’s clear this investigation meant nothing more than giving the GOP political cover to ram through Kavanaugh’s nomination. But, we already know the truth: Kavanaugh is unfit to serve on any court in this country, let alone the Supreme Court. His clear pattern of lying under oath about even the smallest details disqualified him from the start of this process. He lied in the past under oath, he lied under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee again last week, and given the chance, he will lie in the future.
“Kavanaugh’s tarnished and divisive nomination must be withdrawn.”
NARAL released a report earlier today that outlines key evidence that has been apparently ignored by the FBI, including people who have come forward with corroborating accounts and the various instances where Kavanaugh clearly lied under oath. Earlier this week, NARAL outlined numerous examples of Brett Kavanaugh’s repeated lies under oath.
