After reports that extremist attorney Thomas A. Farr will not be confirmed to serve as a federal judge, NARAL Pro-Choice America Vice President Adrienne Kimmell issued the following statement:
“This is a good development for North Carolina and the nation. Thomas Farr does not belong on the federal bench. Full stop. He has used his career to rule against the best interests of women and families for decades, attacking voting rights, targeting black voters at every turn, and working in conjunction with the GOP to try and move us back into the past. Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and the anti-choice GOP have made it their number one mission to stack the courts and model this country after their backwards ideology, but here their efforts were too extreme for even some Republican senators. We applaud the Senate for standing up for human rights and preventing Farr from further imposing his cruel and harmful agenda on North Carolinians and the nation”
Thomas A. Farr has is a member of the Federalist Society. Farr participated as legal counsel in meetings about a plan to send 125,000 postcards falsely warning eligible, Black voters that showing up to the polls could result in prosecution for voter fraud, and also defended North Carolina voting laws disproportionately affecting voters of color.
