The House of Representatives is now more representative of the country and the majority of Americans who support Roe v. Wade

As the 116th Congress begins today, including the swearing in of a pro-choice majority in the House of Representatives, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue issued the following statement:
“Today, we watched as a pro-choice majority in the House of Representatives was sworn in, finally reflecting the will of the seven in 10 Americans who support Roe v. Wade. For the first time, the halls of Congress are now filled with over 100 women, including the most diverse group of representatives our country has seen. NARAL and our 2 million members across the country fought hard during the 2018 election to flip the House to a pro-choice majority.
“The midterm House elections were a clear rejection by voters of Donald Trump’s agenda, at a time when Roe is more popular than ever. While Trump, Mike Pence, and the anti-choice GOP remain obsessed with rolling back our rights every chance they get, women and families all across America now have stronger voices in Congress that we will count on to push back against this dangerous administration. We look forward to working with the pro-choice majority in the 116th Congress to fight for women and families and expand reproductive freedom for all.”
