Today, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties held a hearing on the wave of extreme bans on abortion sweeping states across the country. NARAL Pro-Choice America Vice President Adrienne Kimmell issued the following statement in response:
“The new wave of extreme bans on abortion that is sweeping the country illustrates how high the stakes are for reproductive freedom in America. Today, Congress shined an important spotlight on both the anti-choice movement’s all-out assault on abortion care, and on what it looks like for women in America when their freedom is ripped away. The anti-choice movement has launched a coherent and coordinated disinformation campaign to justify their radical agenda, but we see through it. NARAL applauds the movement of people coming together to fight back against these dangerous bans. From the brave people sharing their stories, to the pro-choice champions in the House today, and to the tens of thousands of advocates who recently spoke out against these bans in all 50 states, the message is clear: we’ve had enough. These voices collectively represent the seven in 10 Americans who support abortion access, and who are watching with eyes wide open as anti-choice politicians try to rip away their freedom.”
