Patients and Providers in Missouri Still at Risk, Anti-Choice Assault on Reproductive Freedom Continues

In response to today’s ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Howard Sachs granting an injunction blocking most of Missouri’s extreme ban on abortion from going into effect, NARAL Pro-Choice America and NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri released the following statements:

“Today’s decision to ensure access to legal abortion in Missouri is a victory for some, but not for all. While the court injunction blocks several cruel provisions from going into effect, the right to choose legal abortion in Missouri continues to hang by a thread. It’s crystal clear that the provisions in this dangerous abortion ban were designed to put politicians at the center of a personal decision that belongs to pregnant people and those they trust the most: their family, faith community, and health care providers. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri will continue to fight tooth and nail for every Missourian’s right to access legal abortion on demand and without shame.”

“Despite today’s ruling temporarily blocking some of the worst provisions of Missouri’s draconian abortion ban, we cannot forget what this law is really about: overturning Roe v. Wade, banning abortion outright in Missouri, and stripping away Americans’ fundamental freedoms. Anti-choice politicians will stop at nothing to ban abortion and interfere with critical, personal decisions, part of an agenda to criminalize abortion and punish pregnant people. NARAL is proud to stand with our partner organizations and the 7 in 10 Americans who support reproductive freedom in the face of these extreme bans. We will continue to fight these dangerous attacks from the anti-choice movement as we stand up for women and families in Missouri and across the country.”
