At tonight’s Democratic debate, there was a robust conversation about #MeToo and sexual assault, paid family leave, and the right to access abortion, among other issues. In response, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement:
“Tonight, standing in a state that has become ground zero for forced pregnancy and abortion bans, we saw multiple candidates speaking out for exactly the values of reproductive freedom and justice as core to progress. They spoke truth about how the ability to access abortion affects economic security, highlighting the double bind many women face caring for children and aging parents, and insisting that both men and women stand up for our most fundamental freedom to make our own decisions about pregnancy. The candidates were clear – the American people stand firmly in support of reproductive freedom, this is a winning issue, and voters are paying close attention.”
