NARAL Response to Trump Administration’s Latest Attack on Abortion Access

HHS rule is designed to make it more difficult for insurance plans to cover abortion under the ACA’s Marketplaces

Following the news that the Trump administration is yet again attacking reproductive freedom, today rolling out a rule that will make it more difficult for health insurance plans to cover abortion under the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) Health Insurance Marketplaces, NARAL Pro-Choice America Chief Research and Communications Officer Adrienne Kimmell issued the following statement:

“The ultimate goal of the Trump administration and the anti-choice movement is to ban abortion, period. Republicans know that their agenda is unpopular with the vast majority of Americans, so they pull out all the stops to strip away people’s freedom by denying access. This new rule is malicious: It’s intended to confuse people and falls hardest on lower-income women. Regardless of how someone is insured, they should be able to make personal decisions about pregnancy, free from political interference.”
