Jesse Mermell Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group Ahead of Primary Election
Today, NARAL Pro-Choice America announced its endorsement of Jesse Mermell in her bid to represent Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District. Mermell is a former Brookline Select Board Member seeking to fill the seat currently held by Rep. Joe Kennedy III.
“Jesse Mermell is an outspoken champion for women and families and we know she will tirelessly advocate for reproductive freedom in Congress,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Our fundamental freedoms hang in the balance, but Jesse will stand strong in the face of incessant anti-choice attacks. The stakes for reproductive freedom could not be higher in 2020, and it is critical we protect our pro-choice majority in the House.”

Jesse’s proven leadership is exactly what we need from elected officials in Massachusetts.”

As our reproductive rights and access to safe, legal abortion are under attack from all angles, it is not enough to simply elect people who will say the right things and vote the right way. We need champions for reproductive freedom. We need leaders who have done the work on the frontlines and know what it takes to win,” said Jesse Mermell. “The fight for reproductive freedom has been the fight of my life. I’m determined to bring this fight to Congress and straight to Donald Trump and his cronies with NARAL as my partner.”
Jesse Mermell previously served as a Brookline Select Board Member, advisor to Governor Deval Patrick, and senior leader at Planned Parenthood. She is committed to fighting to protect and expand reproductive freedom in the state of Massachusetts and across the country.
