New Hampshire Gubernatorial Candidate Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of state Senator Dan Feltes for Governor of New Hampshire. Feltes will face off against anti-choice, anti-freedom incumbent Gov. Chris Sununu in the November general election.

“State Senator Dan Feltes is a fierce advocate for the women and families of New Hampshire,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “Throughout his time in office, he has proven his commitment to safeguarding and advancing reproductive freedom. Unlike Governor Sununu, state Senator Feltes will stand up for Granite Staters at a time when their fundamental freedoms are under unprecedented attack. We look forward to working together to ensure that every body in New Hampshire is free to make personal decisions about pregnancy without politicians interfering.

“I am proud to have the endorsement of NARAL in this race,” said Dan Feltes. “There is so much at stake in this election, and with Donald Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett, the stakes are even higher. Like Trump, Chris Sununu has threatened reproductive health right here in New Hampshire. It is critical that we protect body autonomy and access to reproductive care at the statehouse and in the courts. Chris Sununu has worked to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood, has vetoed insurance coverage for reproductive health care, has nominated anti-choice justices, and directed CARES Act funds to an anti-choice crisis pregnancy center. As governor, I will actively work to expand access to reproductive health care and protect these fundamental rights.”

As a state senator, Feltes worked to provide resources for women’s health centers that were affected by the Trump administration’s Title X Gag rule and fought tirelessly for paid family and medical leave insurance in New Hampshire. Gov. Sununu vetoed a 2019 bill to expand paid family leave and then sold a copy of his veto at a political fundraiser; calling it “the greatest veto of all time.” While Gov. Sununu has voted against funding for reproductive health clinics and nominated anti-choice justices to the New Hampshire Supreme Court, Feltes has vowed to nominate a pro-choice woman to the New Hampshire Supreme Court and protect and expand reproductive freedom in the Granite State.
