New six-figure initiative will boost on-the-ground efforts of organizations leading the charge to protect voting rights and expand voter access in MI, GA, AZ, and MN

Washington, DC Today, NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation announced new grants to six organizations that are leading voter protection work in battleground states Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, and Minnesota. All of these groups have local organization and infrastructure in these states, are led by people of color, and are carrying out critical work to protect voting rights, expand voting access, and ensure voters get the information they need to cast their ballots.

“The work on the ground in battleground states to counter cynical and anti-democratic tactics of voter suppression could not be more important,” said Adrienne Kimmell, NARAL Pro-Choice America Chief Communications and Research Officer. “Without elections that are truly fair, secure, and accessible for everyone, we cannot elect leaders who will represent the will of the majority, including the vast majority of people in America who support reproductive freedom.”

As part of this new partnership, the following organizations are receiving grants:

  • The ANIKA Foundation – Black Votes Matter MN (Minnesota)
  • Detroit Action (Michigan)
  • Higher Heights Leadership Fund (working in Georgia)
  • Mothering Justice  (Michigan)
  • The New Georgia Project (Georgia)
  • Poder in Action (Arizona)

Voter suppression always disproportionately impacts Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). BIPOC voters have been systematically disenfranchised in states across the country and face disproportionate barriers to voting.
