NARAL Pro-Choice America Celebrates Mondaire Jones’ Historic Victory in New York’s 17th Congressional District

New York — Yesterday, voters in New York’s 17th Congressional District elected NARAL-endorsed candidate Mondaire Jones to the U.S. House of Representatives. Jones will be one of the first Black, openly LGBTQ+ members of Congress. His victory over anti-choice, anti-freedom Republican candidate Maureen McArdle-Schulman marks a huge win for reproductive freedom.
In response to Jones’ victory, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement:
“NARAL Pro-Choice America congratulates Mondaire Jones on his victory in his bid to represent New York’s 17th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. We know that Jones will be a fierce defender of our fundamental rights in the House—and we need elected officials like him now more than ever. We look forward to working with Mondaire Jones to protect and expand reproductive freedom in the days ahead.”
