Defeat of anti-choice, anti-freedom Republican candidate Jim Oberweis is a win for Illinoisans and reproductive freedom

Illinois On Election Day, voters in Illinois’ 14th Congressional District reelected NARAL-endorsed incumbent Representative Lauren Underwood to the U.S. House of Representatives. Her victory over anti-choice, anti-freedom Republican candidate Jim Oberweis marks a huge win for reproductive freedom and keeps a critical seat in the House.

In response to Underwood’s victory, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement:

“During her time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Lauren Underwood has fought for reproductive freedom time and again. During her time in office, Rep. Underwood earned a 100% score on NARAL’s Congressional Record on Choice. We are thankful to have Rep. Underwood with us in the fight for our fundamental rights and look forward to continuing our work together to protect and expand reproductive freedom.”
