Washington, DC Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Build Back Better Act. This legislation includes historic investments in paid leave and maternal health, among many critical provisions.

NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:

“Ensuring paid leave and addressing inequities in maternal healthcare is core to reproductive freedom—they are essential to creating a world where each of us has the freedom to make the best decisions for our families and futures. I know firsthand the importance of paid leave and the critical impact it has on working families. Paid leave helped to ensure that I had the time I needed to care for my growing family.

As our country recovers from an unprecedented public health and economic crisis, investments in our care economy are more important than ever. No family should ever have to choose between a paycheck and caring for themselves and their loved ones.”
