NARAL Pro-Choice America Condemns House GOP’s Slew of Anti-Choice Bills, Which Show They’re Still Ignoring American Majority

Washington, DC This week, the anti-choice GOP majority in the U.S. House of Representatives announced votes on a group of bills that would further restrict abortion access. These bills include one that would allow politicians to interfere in personal family decisions (H.R. 26, the so-called “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act”), a bill to make permanent the anti-choice Hyde Amendment (H.R.7), and a resolution meant to muddy the waters and detract from their extremely unpopular anti-reproductive freedom agenda (H.Con.Res.3). Despite the resoundingly clear message that voters sent in November, the GOP is still focused on taking away our freedom to make our own decisions.

NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:

“These bills make it plain: House Republicans are patently rejecting the will of the overwhelming majority of Americans who voted to support legal abortion in November. We’ll see where every single member of the House stands tomorrow when these bills come to the floor. Meanwhile, our Democratic reproductive freedom champions in the House are ready and willing to fight to restore and expand access to abortion—and we thank them for that. The American people are watching this fight, and the contrast with their GOP colleagues is damning.”
