NARAL Pro-Choice America Applauds House Democrats for Reintroduction of Right to Travel Bill

Washington, DC Today, House Democrats, led by Reps. Lizzie Fletcher (D-TX), Marilyn Strickland (D-WA), and Jamie Raskin (D-MD), reintroduced the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, which would protect the rights of millions of Americans who are blocked from accessing care in their state to travel to seek abortion care. In the 117th Congress, only 3 Republicans voted in favor of this bill, with 205 Republicans voting against it.

NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:

“The same politicians banning abortion in the states are now trying to stop their constituents from accessing abortion care in other states. Banning abortion doesn’t stop people from needing abortion care. Thanks to these politicians, abortion is inaccessible in large swaths of the country, and many Americans have no choice but to travel for the care they need. This important bill—led by Reps. Fletcher, Strickland, and Raskin—would reaffirm the right to travel and protect Americans who are simply trying to do what’s best for them. We thank our Hill allies for their innovation and dedication to expanding reproductive freedom.”
