Oklahoma State Rep. George Faught: Anti-choice politician in Oklahoma thinks rape and incest are beautiful

Oklahoma state Rep. George Faught.

If you were talking with someone who called rape and incest beautiful, you’d probably freak out, right?

Well, look no further than Oklahoma state Representative George Faught if you need a reason to smash your keyboard in outrage or dust off your women’s march sign and jump into the fight against anti-choice legislators like him.

Rep. Faught recently introduced a bill that would punish doctors who provide care to women seeking abortion care in certain circumstances without exception for rape or incest. We wish we were making that up.

But what’s more, in defense of his bill once it—rightfully—was the subject of major criticism and controversy, he eventually claimed, “God can bring beauty out of ashes.”

Yes. Really.

This isn’t the first time Rep. Faught has taken it upon himself to decide what kind of healthcare a woman can access: He has supported bills that would have effectively outlawed abortion in Oklahoma and place medically unnecessary requirements on doctors who provide abortion care.

He doesn’t just limit his really gross legislation to women’s rights, either. He’s also made it his pet project to show LGBTQ Oklahomans just how unwelcome they are in the state by proposing legislation that, according to Rewire, would actually prohibit local communities “from passing their own LGBTQ nondiscrimination laws” if it passed. We can all agree that dirty, rotten, sexist scoundrels like Rep. Faught don’t reflect the priorities of women and hardworking families, and they have no place making personal healthcare decisions on our behalf.

Donate $5 to help us defeat Dirty, Rotten, Sexist Scoundrels like Rep. Faught, and make sure they know that rape and incest are never beautiful.

Everyone should be able to decide if, when, how, and with whom they start or grow a family.
