Sound the alarm on vigilante abortion bans!Anti-choice legislators in Texas recently passed SB 8, an extreme bill that would would ban abortion before most people know they're pregnant and encourage vigilantism by offering a bounty to anyone who successfully sues people who help a pregnant person seeking abortion care.
You read that right. Anti-choice extremists will get a reward for inserting themselves into people's decisions about if, when, and how to grow a family if SB 8 is allowed to go into effect on Sept. 1.
The Texas law is one of more than 330 bills introduced, advanced, or passed attacking abortion access in 2021 alone. Make no mistake: Anti-choice extremists are paying close attention to Texas to see if they can use SB 8 as a blueprint to roll back abortion access all across the country.
We can't sit on the sidelines and let this assault on our reproductive freedom go unanswered. Act now and demand your member of Congress pass the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA) and protect the legal right to abortion for every body across the country.
Schedule a Meeting With Your Member of Congress! The Supreme Court will hear a case this fall centered on a 15-week abortion ban that directly challenges Roe v. Wade — despite the fact that 77% of Americans support the legal right to abortion.
More than ever, it is essential that members of Congress know that reproductive freedom is an important issue to their constituents — and the best way to tell them is in person.
This year, NARAL members from across the country will use the time when members of Congress are back in their districts to meet with their representatives and ask them to pass the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA).
Reps. Judy Chu (D-CA), Lois Frankel (D-FL), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Veronica Escobar (D-TX) have introduced WHPA because it would protect the right to access abortion care across the United States free from bans and medically unnecessary restrictions, even if Roe falls.
Sign up now to make a commitment to meet with your Member of Congress and tell them to PASS WHPA! Get started here >> Not sure who your representative is or which House District you live in? Enter your zipcode to find out!
P.S. When visiting your representative, please make sure you're following CDC guidelines, and wearing your mask indoors where it's recommended to keep our communities safe.
Support Medication Abortion!Medication abortion is a safe, effective, and FDA-approved option for ending an early pregnancy — but medically unnecessary restrictions block people from accessing the care they need. These unnecessary restrictions disproportionately prevent people of color, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and people with low incomes from accessing essential care.
U.S. Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) introduced a House resolution in support of medication abortion care access policies that are equitable and based in science. Now is the time to make your voice heard!
Urge your representative to follow the science and cosponsor the House resolution in support of access to medication abortion!
California for Reproductive Freedom: Virtual Power Hours! We are currently facing huge threats to reproductive freedom.
90 abortion restrictions have already been enacted in the first six months of 2021, and the Supreme Court is taking up a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade next session. In California, we also face an anti-choice, Republican-led recall effort against Governor Gavin Newsom, a reproductive freedom champion.
This year has also shown us the incredible power of collective action! When we work together, we can accomplish so much. That's why NARAL is renewing our California for Reproductive Freedom: Virtual Power Hour series!
Throughout the summer, we will take action together to urge our members of Congress to support the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), critical legislation that will protect the right to access abortion care throughout the United States, and to support Governor Newsom!
6:00-6:30 pm: Educational speakers, NARAL staff, and volunteers speak about important issues that impact reproductive freedom.
6:30-7:30 pm: We will take action to support WHPA or Governor Newsom by phonebanking, textbanking, or a different action!
We can't wait to see you all (virtually)!
Tell Congress: Pass the Women’s Health Protection Act Now!The Supreme Court recently announced that it will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a case centered on Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban that directly challenges Roe v. Wade. Let's be clear about what this means: If the anti-choice, anti-freedom supermajority on the Supreme Court—solidified by the confirmations of Trump's anti-choice justices—upholds Mississippi's abortion ban, Roe will be overturned. And, if Roe falls:

Wade fall — and it was introduced in the House and Senate in June.
Every single member of Congress needs to hear our message loud and clear: We need Congress to pass WHPA this year — before the Supreme Court makes a decision on this case — so that the right to abortion can be protected! That's where you come in.
